Jubilee Celebrations: Home Edition
The diary of the Platinum Jubilee: Home Edition
The Platinum Jubilee marks 70 years of Her Majesty the Queen and is a moment in history. What a celebration it has been!
The girls have been celebrating at school and nursery over the last month with learning songs, decorating things and having parties. They were so excited to see the events of the weekend unfold.
Personally, it was the 4 day weekend that I was most excited about!!
Whilst we would have loved to have gone to London, like James and I did for the Diamond Jubilee 10 years ago, we spent this one at home and we definitely made the most of our time together as a family.
Flypast over Buckingham Palace
On Thursday, London came together to enjoy the Trooping of the Colour, a traditional parade that marks the Queen's birthday.
This was followed by the RAF flypast, which had 70 RAF aircraft taking part. James is a huge fan of planes!!
We watched this on TV to see if we could 'spot' my brother who was flying in one of the Chinooks, taking photos of the event (he's an RAF Photographer), obviously we couldn't see him but it was amazing to know he had the opportunity to be a part of it. I felt quite emotional, what a proud moment!

BBQs & Sunshine
Thursday was perfect BBQ weather, so we went for a lovely walk over the Quantocks and played in the woods. Indie managed to fall over and graze her arm and spent the rest of the day looking like the Michelin man wrapped in thick plasters! It didn't stop her enjoying herself though.
We all got involved in cooking up a feast with meat & halloumi on the BBQ, lots of cider and soaking up the warm weather.
Party at the Palace
We spent the afternoon on Saturday drinking Pimms and eating home made scones with cream & Jam. How very British!
In the evening, there was a concert at Buckingham Palace with superstars such as Adam Lambert & Queen, Diana Ross and The Queen's tea time with Paddington Bear. Lottie absolutely loved watching it and dancing around the living room, singing all the songs she knew!
My favourite part was when the Queen (finally) revealed what she keeps in her handbag, if you haven't seen it, you have to watch it...
We hope you've had the best 4 day weekend. What better way to end it, than treating yourself...
