Make the most of your Candles

Burning your Candle the correct way, ensures value for money and takes care of your environment.
This week we are answering your most Frequently Asked Questions, to help you make the most of your Gorgeous Candles.

What Is Soy Wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax, derived from Soybeans. It is an
environmentally friendly candle wax due to the biodegradable nature of the ingredients. We use a blended wax for our candles, A Soy and Coconut wax blend.
Coconut wax is also an eco-friendly choice as the oil is easily harvested from coconuts. It is a more premium and expensive wax, however it gives off a better scent throw and gives a creamy white finish to your candles.
Soy wax is slow burning, making your candles last longer.
It is the natural choice.

Why do we have to trim the wick?

This is an essential part of burning a candle.
Trimming your wick prior to burning each time, reduces the
amount of soot produced by the candle, will reduce the
blackening of your candle jar and ensures that the candle
performs efficiently.
We recommend that you trim your wick to 5mm and use
wick trimmers or nail clippers to keep it neat and tidy.

How long do I burn my candle for?

Burning your candle for the right amount of time is imperative to its’ performance.
Don't burn it for long enough and you will get a 'tunnel' effect – where your candle burns down the middle, leaving wax around the edges of the candle jar - which will never rectify itself. Burn for too long and carbon will build up, causing the wick to mushroom and the flame to become unstable. It also affects the scent throw throughout the lifetime of the candle. We recommend that your first burn is between 3-4 hours, at least until the melt pool has reached the edges. Subsequent burns are for no longer than 4 hours

How do I clean the Jar?

Fill up your candle with boiling hot water. Let the water cool
and the wax will float to the top. You can then remove and
discard in the bin. Use a hair dryer to melt the wax. Tip away carefully. Wipe with kitchen roll and wash with soapy water.
The wick is secured using a hot glue gun. This can be removed easily when it's warm.

How can I reuse my candle jar when I have finished?
